Why I Love Obama
Because he also gets it. I hoped for a new "New Deal." And he delivers.

Ah, the New Deal.... Those were the days, when capitalism was seen for the money-grubbing, back-breaking, free-for-all that it is!
Back in the good old days, when honest people really believed that they were too stupid or incompetent to figure their own way out of their financial debacle and instead threw up their hands and handed the reins to Someone Smarter to do with the country what he pleased. Back in the days when the country was cringing with fear and cashed in the one chip it had left, the freedom bought for it with the blood and sweat and sacrifice of the previous 15 generations.
"Do something, Anything" was the command, and by God Roosevelt did! Federal control over all contracts personal or business, Federal control of electricity, Federal control of agricultural prices, production and marketing, Federal control of labor markets, Federal control of insurance markets with an exclusive monopoly on retirement -- Gosh, I miss that whiff of totalitarianism! Trust those pesky supreme court justices to go and ruin a good party, with their maddening insistence on "constitutionality" and talk of "Freedom."
I want the Good Old Days to come back again, back when Hitler was the darling of the intelligentsia for believing that controlling an economy was superior to just letting it run riot and his centrally planned economy showed us the way out of our Depression through massive government spending and regulation. I mean, what could be more intoxicating than to take other people's money from them forcibly and spend it on whatever you would like to, all the while cheered on by hordes of people with their hands out? Hail Caesar! Now, THAT was a time to be alive!
